There is so much talk on the net about which lenses people should use and if the ‘PRO’ lenses are worth that extra sum. And really there is no real answer because everyone likes different things and it completely depends on your budget, shoot, camera etc.
With that being said, Den from FstopAcademy recently has done a test battling out the Zeiss ZF.2′s, with an exception of one CP.2, and Canon’s L series lenses. A list of the lenses are below:
Canon
- L series 24mm f1.4
- Canon L -Series 16-35mm f2.8 9 to cover focal lengths from 18mm and 35mm
- Canon L Series 70-200mm f2.8 to cover focal length of 85mm
- Canon EF 100mm macro f2.8
Zeiss
- 18mm ZF.2f3.5
- 25mm ZF.2 f2.0
- 35mm ZF.2 f1.4
- 85mm CP.2 T2.9
- 100mm ZF.2 f2.0
I should point out that after reading the comments I noticed Den does comment saying the Canon’s were generally wide open but because the BMCC doesn’t display the f-stop he cannot guarantee the same apertures were used. This may well have an effect on the sharpness of the images, so use this more as a guide rather than solid proof.
